Reinsurance refers to the repeated insurance of a risk that has already been insured by insurance companies. Reinsurance is carried out as a form of self-insuring by the insurance company against the risk of excessive losses occurring in the same period and negatively impacting the company's capital structure. Participation-based insurance companies obtain coverage from participation reinsurance companies whenever possible. However, if the necessary coverage cannot be provided, they may obtain services from conventional reinsurance companies with the approval of the advisory committee.
